This music grew out of my experience playing at Yoga Nidra sessions over the past two years. I am thankful to the facilitators of various forms of Yoga I have worked with over these years: Marybeth Grant, Kathy Martucci, Jayne Lewin, and Debbie Verdon (Yoga Ma).
Yoga Nidra is a 1700-year-old guided meditation practice that takes you to that sweet spot between wakefulness and sleep. My intention in my music is to create a meditative mood so that the practice of Yoga can transcend the physical and enter your heart.
The song titles in this album are taken from the haiku “Connected” by Heidi Chase:
one breath one posture
one intention creating
possibility
… which was posted on December 17, 2019 as part of a set of 13 haiku “inspired by my yoga practice, on and off the mat”.
1. One Breath
2. One Posture
3. One Intention
4. Creating
5. Possibility
The cover art incorporates a photo taken at sunset, October 20, 2013, in a park in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.
I played a Sylphyo electronic wind instrument on all the tracks on this album. The Sylphyo is produced by Aodyo in France and is the leading edge of a long legacy of electronic wind instruments.
All my music was recorded in a single take with no editing.
I have been fortunate to be able to collaborate with incredible artists on tracks 2 through 5. Serjo De Lua (track 3), Scott Holmes (track 5), and Kevin MacLeod (tracks 2 and 4) have provided their amazing music under a Creative Commons Attribution license. My thanks to them for their generosity and leading me to license this music in a similar way:
